Something related to cultural appropriation, but it reminded me of Canary Wharf (London) clocks, https://canarywharf.com/artwork/konstantin-grcic-six-public-...

Want to carry that on your wrist, or hang to your wall?

You're covered (down to the stalling second in some models): https://mondaine.com/

Clock took some inspiration of our kitchen clock.

That's for the spot price. If you have bought futures then that won't impact you

Shouldn't future contract sellers be smart enough to take these aspects in account? So you might not pay the spot price. But overall you will cover it. As those selling futures are there to make money. So they charge more than they pay for the power.

AFAIK that's why leaded paint is bad for children: it tastes sweet so they continue licking it/eating the chips of paint that fall off the wall

You’re conjuring an image of children licking walls, but just the dust from the flaking paint chips is harmful.

Water from lead pipes must have tasted amazing

It’s why they added it to wine

Sure, and copper, and aluminium

Even if we stop all emissions right now, we'll exceed the 1.5C target, so...

The Doomerist paralysis has been engineered by the folks who look to benefit the most from inaction, mainly the fossil fuel and related industries.

To not even attempt to head for the lifeboats is suicide.

Exactly what is it about CO2, a plant food, that scares you so much? You do realize that green plants react to increased CO2 percentage with stronger growth?

You're the one calling me a "doomer"?

Plants and humans both love water, but you can still drown.

Please attempt steelmanning the global warming greenhouse effect and its consequences as an intellectual exercise.

[flagged]

He was asking you to try to 'steelman', or take seriously the strongest version of, the arguments of your counterparts, rather than being dismissive.

"Plants like CO2" is not a counterargument to "Increased atmoospheric CO2 will have a number of outcomes that are net negative for humanity", so I presume they're asking you to actually think about the argument being made and respond to it, not some other, made up one.

Where do i even begin to respond to this?

Plants growing slightly faster does not mitigate the many consequences of increased CO2.

Nitrate is a plant food too, doesn't mean it's not killing large parts of the ocean.

I didn't call you anything, I wasn't even talking to you.

The nice thing with climate change is that it can always get worse !

If we miss the 1.5 target then the next target is 1.51. And so on.

Every point of a degree we can mitigate will matter a lot.

Makes no sense IMHO: produce can last more than a week in the fridge

Holy cow. In France it's like 3 times less (https://base-donnees-publique.medicaments.gouv.fr/medicament...).

Right? That's why I think I'm going to get it in India. Cervavac should be fine.

What about separate, atomic, commits? Are they squashed too? Makes reverting a fix harder without impacting the rest, no?

PRs should be atomic, if they need to be separated for reverting, they should be multiple PRs.

An impressive feast of engineering! Plenty of temporary ropeways, mechanics, transport... Really nice to see

Yet it works perfectly which forgejo/gitea (uses the act runner)
