Why do we keep screwing up the simplest parts of web interfaces?

I'd have to say the same for this video that leads with several minutes of unfunny jokes.

Quicken

"President Obama signed an executive order outlining emergency control of the Internet, and thus the Internet kill switch was born."

WTF?? Is there an Internet kill switch capability? Will it work if invoked?

This is not new. Cisco made a big router (BFR) and also a huge router (HFR). Among their designers, the 'F' did not stand for 'fast'.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 with AT&T Wireless. I went on their website and found their "Online Chat" support. I told the support person that I needed to unlock my phone so I could use a prepaid SIM while traveling overseas. Three minutes later I had my unlock code, no questions asked.

It's a lot like putting an assert() in your code. assert(m&m != brown);

Serious answer: The bright orange/red bar saturates my red cone cells, leaving an "afterglow" green bar burned into my vision. It fades away after a minute or two.
