I'm with you. Augmented Reality is what I'm looking for. I've been dreaming about it for decades.

Augmented reality is what you already have right here, right now, on your wrist and in your ears.

In my book, AR is completely invisible, until you need it:

- A smart watch + strict notification filters (good idea either way), means you only see a notification when something worthy of your attention happens (you get a text, event reminder, etc). You can glance at the notification and decide if it requires your reaction, instead of reaching for your phone. (And likely, waste another 10min on it.)

- Wireless earbuds with turn-by-turn directions, especially for walking and public transport. Again, you don't need a screen, you can admire your surroundings or read a book.

- Pay for stuff. If you'd spend 10s on pulling a card out of your wallet, it saves you an hour of your life per year.

- Track your vitals. Overall not that important, until you notice and suspect something is wrong - you can compare things month over month, see trends, show it to your doctor, etc. I took a hard hit falling off a skateboard, my watch started a countdown to call for help - I stopped it, but I needed a minute to get up, so it was really reassuring to have this.

I'm using Android and do not have the cloud icon? Can you share a screenshot?

Screenshot would show the users current location, and would not tell you anything that the directions didn't tell you. I followed the directions in that comment and confirm that I see what is described. A cloud icon in a top nav bar, on the right side, with a slash through it in my case as backup sync is off.

Appreciate the concern, but it was easy enough to zoom the map onto an empty part of the ocean and conceal any personal info.

Sure. Here's a screenshot when I have timeline view open (zoomed onto an ocean, that's why it's all blue): https://i.imgur.com/Yx9eBIg.png

The cloud had a slash through it, I tapped it and enabled the setting.

I think I have everything needed lying around in spare parts. Know of a guide for install? I tried building something similar years ago but got stuck on the software.

You may actually need a little bit of extra information to replicate a handful of traces (i.e.on breadbpard) present on the little PCB that the ratgdo software relies on to interface the espressif to the terminals of your opener.

It's not terribly complicated but for reasons that are polarizing to many in the garage-door-automation society, the author of the software, although leaving the code completely open source is averse to publishing schematics for the PCB board itself, so others have had to step in and reverse engineer these.

It appears that this project has gone from a very minor side hobby an actual business for the author, and the PCB schematics are pretty much the only IP moat he has, without them he's just providing a very easily (and cheaply) replicated PCB assembly service.

I believe, although I have not verified because I haven't tried this myself, that this site provides both the schematics you need as well as information necessary to Flash the software onto your ESP device.

Same for me as well. Via mobile.

Man, I'm really feeling the enshitification of the internet right now. Those early to mid years were great.

This is great! Also seems like a simple code engine.

That's called a substitution cipher and can be defeated by hand by using frequency analysis, in case anyone wanted to know that. Please don't call the party pooper police!

With updates dating back to 1999! https://futureblues.com/what.shtml

I'm more impressed that the updates continue to 2021

And the guestbook is still live and astonishingly empty of spam!

And it's actually a service that still operates, does GDPR, anti-spam etc.

It's funny how the site kept getting regular updates but stopped right in the middle of the owner watching the Netflix adaptation.

I’m into a casual fan and it was rough to try and watch the first episode.

They could’ve made that contrast of high and low budget simultaneously work, if it wasn’t for the extreme miscasting and needless changes.

I can only imagine what a super fan would’ve thought.

I'm an occasional casual anime fan who had never experienced the original but watched the Netflix show and mostly loved it. I was sad there won't be another season.

Do yourself a favor though. Go get the original. It holds up well with the exception that animation has come a long way.

The first is March of 1999, but the most recent are about the live action release at the end of 2021, and there's some developments for most of the 20 years in between!

You can just feel yourself go in and out of ketosis? What's that like?

Not always, but if it's super drastic. Feels like a massive sugar rush (or maybe it is actually just the sugar rush I'm experiencing when I accidentally eat hidden sugar?)

Get super hot, feel like my blood is rushing, heart beats.. not faster but.. louder?

I'm assuming/hoping it will be one of the first Steam Workshop creations, once that's available.

It's probably on me, but is there no change in color for visited links?
