UBI will become much more popular with the general public once automation, especially self-driving vehicles, stars to affect the middle class.

You have a lot of faith in humanity recognizing there own situation. There are still plenty of people on SS and disability complaining about too much spending on entitlements. I believe most American's are too worried about what the other guy got for free to look out for their own best interest.

A little heavy on the jargon, but interesting to see that data supports advice that is often passed around as being common sense.

I agree. Someone's "darling" code might be a truly innovative or unique way of solving a problem, and providing enough commentary should help avoid the problems the author warns about.

It's amazing, their whole complaint is solved by proper software development practices - Comment your code.

Code that's clear enough not to need a comment is better than code that has a comment. Comments can be outdated or mistaken and they consume screen real estate.

You still need to document intent. No code is self documenting.

In some cases, naming may be sufficient to communicate intent.

To be fair: What is proper practice, is far from what is common practice

Not to mention it may be a performance optimization.

Which is a good reason, if that optimization is needed.

I think the point about "phone stacking" is interesting. There doesn't need to be explicitly punitive measures to discourage people using their personal tech since the social conventions are already there.

Simple but effective - I like that it provides an explanation when you get one wrong.

Really interesting post. Though SVGs can reduce the number of HTTP requests, it's definitely important to manage file sizes as well, or the speed gains might be negated. Nice writeup!
