Cool service, I signed up already. I wonder though, how big do you think this market really is? I feel like this might be just a small subset of the airbnb market.

Thanks for signing up!

Vacation rentals market is estimated 23 Billion dollars in the US alone.

So Airbnb is going after that market, 23B. You're going after a small subset of that market. But say you get pretty popular and 10% of every vacation rental is using your service then that's only 20M (since you only take 1%).

Or are you planning on offering a different service once you're big enough?

Airbnb is making 3% on each hosts and we are also planning to charge that. We are also able to upsale guests on simcards, transportation, etc..

So we are very happy about our market size :-)

Would you mind giving me an email regarding the up sell on SIM cards? Got something quite interesting coming up in the EU that may be of interest to you. Email's on my profile.

I'm interested to hear from other YC members and alum but when I went through an incubator and we talking about pitches etc talking about total addressable market in this way was really a no no under the idea that it made you look amateur. We were told the best approach and more realistic approach was to start from the bottom up instead of top down.

I think it was one of the reasons that helped us realize what our true potential was and plan accordingly instead of saying we are going after the 100 Billion dollar travel market or whatever.

"total yield from the waitlist was under 10 percent" that's 10% paying customers that's definitely not as bad as they made it sound.

I'm a little surprised why did they think it would be a cheap operation. They send someone to pick up the mail from your house, that's insane. Of course that will be expensive. And it's only $5 per month. There are a few old school services that do the same but they ask the customer to redirect their mail to a specific new address. I wonder why outbox didn't go down that route.

Definitely sad to see them go.

Glad ya like it ;)

Thanks, we'll see if we can make it happen for the next release.

I don't know if you noticed, but we show you a history of your recent searches, so that could be a quicker way to get your favorite route.

Google directions APIs offer biking routes, so on the backend we figure out the time it takes to get to the destination. Unfortunately the Google maps app APIs doesn't support biking directions yet just driving/walking/public transport so for now driving makes the most sense.

If there's a biking app you usually use we'd be happy to integrate with it

The lat/long coordinates are more accurate which is why we're using it. However, we've heard this from a few people already, so we might change it in the next release.

Love the sharing feature http://spiffygif.com/?length=26&radius=18&corners=0....

super useful

I made a very similar website. Also offers uploading files and encrypting the data you share. It offers a little more flexibility on how you want to secure the content you're sharing.

You can check out the source code https://github.com/hellonoam/cryptopad though I should probably update the readme with more info.

Nice, I hadn't seen that one yet either. I love the testimonial, "Finally I can share what really happened".

By the way, I'm getting a warning about your SSL cert in Chrome. Firefox was fine though but it could be b/c of an inconsistent server configuration:

hmm that's a little strange. Haven't had this problem before. I'll look into it - Thanks.

Typo fixed.

Trust is a challenge, I might just open source it. Although that doesn't guarantee that people will trust the website.

Separate links since they're for different purposes

I like the domain as well!

Yeah, exactly. Also interesting to see the dots in the middle of the oceans.
