Same here. Sadly, my dad is beginning to lose sight in both eyes now and has trouble operating essential websites (e.g. his bank's webpages). Does anyone know of browser extensions that enable a high-level voice command language? I'm thinking commands like:

* "Open Bank of America"

* "Login with saved password"

* "What's my savings bank balance?"

Yeah, I know it's fraught with security challenges and is likely acceptable only if using local models. Still, anything out there?

I highly doubt there is something out there already that does this.

Something to be hopeful about - lower dosages are effective for prophylaxis, even though (Lancet study) higher dosages in cases where disease had progressed did not help (or made things worse)

From https://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2020/may/29/icmr-wri...:

> Speaking to ANI on the condition of anonymity, a Health Ministry official explained the context behind the ICMR and Health Ministry disagreeing with WHO's assessment, the primary point being the wide gap in dosage levels given in India and internationally."Internationally in Solidarity trial COVID-19 patients are being administered with--800 mg x 2 loading doses 6 hours apart followed by 400 mg x 2 doses per day for 10 days. The total dosage given to a patient over 11 days is about 9600 mg which is four times higher than the dose we are giving to our patients," informed the official.

Thanks for the info!

For people outside this field of work like me (a software / cleantech guy), is there a concise spreadsheet to show the state-of-the-art?

i.e. Listing different types of cancers with the most promising immunotherapy treatments for each type, expected confidence and success rates, trials that one can enroll into?

It'd be a good first place to go to whenever we hear of someone who has 'cancer' - that word is so generic that it's hard to figure out what our action item should be.

> is there a concise spreadsheet to show the state-of-the-art

doubtful imo. the state of the art is rapidly changing, and plenty of things are happening behind closed doors.

clinicaltrials.gov is your best bet but the expected success rates is not something anyone would willingly have as public information.

"What's wrong with caring about your fellow taxpaying citizens who's vote might affect you more than someone that's possibly displacing them?"

? H1B holders pay as much tax as citizens do (more, in fact, given they cannot benefit off Social Security, but still have to contribute to it). AND they don't get to vote.

What's the argument in this case?

They (and their families) haven't been paying taxes into the community their entire working lives like the natives have. The argument is that the people who have been contributing to the society more and for longer should get to see some benefits from the system before someone who has contributed literally nothing to your community shows up. That's why out of state students pay way more for tuition than in-state students at public universities.

Even if you have some wacky reason for disagreeing with this logic, then take the taxes out of it. What's wrong with caring about your fellow citizens who's vote might affect your more than someone that's possibly displacing them?

Um, I guess thank you for defining my reasoning as wacky. Turns out, I agree with your logic, but want to point out that it doesn't lead to the conclusion that you support.

1. Do you like the fact that out-of-state/country students pay more for tuition (thus subsidizing the education of the good native people)?

2. If so, do you like the fact that H1B pay taxes (thus subsidizing Social Security for the good native people)? The H1B is term-limited to 6 years, and people need to leave the country if they no longer work (or pay taxes). So the do NOT benefit indefinitely at the expense of the community who have been long-term tax payers. With respect to tax, the H1B is totally a pay-to-pay (a little bit pay-extra-to-play, even) visa.

[Edit: We already established that H1B holders can NOT vote. So they cannot affect your community of long-term tax-paying natives in that manner].

Shameless plug: If you want to participate in India's progress towards bigger rooftop-solar, please consider joining http://www.oorjan.com. We believe we are doing something unique in leveraging banking and financial relationships to productize solar deployments. And looking for great devs right now - esp frontend :-)

Is solar viable for small installations without any subsidies ? I was recently looking at a 30KW proposal for a small enterprise in Tamil Nadu. The quoted price is Rs. 36 lakhs. At the rate of Rs 6.75 per unit, it doesn't even cover the interest costs. Does this match with your capex costs or is this way off ?

Solar is viable, you will be looking at a 6-7year payback on the system with interest, 36Lakhs is very high for a 30kW system. The prices should be in the range of 25-27L for an on grid system with a simple structure. Where in Tamil Nadu is this? Ping me if you are looking for more details(mail Id in profile), I work for a company that does solar installations.

Thanks for the reply. I could not find your mail id in your profile. You can send me an email to {My HN username}{at}gmail and I can send you more details

What we've found is it's immediately viable for commercial properties that make profits e.g. malls, workshops, small factories, petrol pumps, etc. The accelerated depreciation benefits mean you'll make your money back in little more than a year. If you own any such rooftop, this ought to be a no-brainer for you.

Even if you're not making profits (and so have no tax, and accelerated depreciation doesn't help you), commercial electricity rates in India are high, and you can expect break-even in about 3 years.

For residential consumers, break-even is 5-7 years, depending on which state you're in.

For your specific example, would need to know details to offer comments. At first glance, the quoted price seems way too high. Consider not installing batteries unless you absolutely must for your use-case.

pretty cool. I dont know if you applied for YC this time, but I encourage you to do this for the next batch. Contact me if you need any gyaan.
