neat - question: does this mean if I create a custom docker image (i.e. using FFMPEG for video processing), I can run my lambda using this environment?
This is awesome - is there any thing similar for Azure? Or possible 3rd party solutions that do the same? We don’t leverage GCP but I am very envious of this feature. Would love the community to help point me in the right direction to get same functionality - mainly not having to maintain and patch Ubuntu 16.0.4 images
Yeah, it's called Red Hat Enterprise Linux ;-) It's available on all the cloud providers and has a better API/ABI guarantee as well as very, very well defined commitments to patching and lifecycle :-)
My understanding is that those are more for “functions” or business logic. How can I leverage that for pointing my docker image to a 3rd party mainted base image?
can I use this in conjunction with graphQL and middleware such as apollo client? so essentially, use the middleware to query my DB and use watermelon for local storage?
not very familiar with apollo, but I don't see why not. But just be aware that Watermelon works best as a full local database copy (that synchronizes with the server), not just a cache.
sorry if this a dumb question: my cofounder and I are working on a app that we plan to release in South East Asia (i.e. India) because of what we believe is a better market fit as well as product positioning - does applying to this program make sense if our goal isn't (in the near term) to release this app in the US? Would we still be eligible for the equity funding?
Still makes sense, and you'll be eligible as long as you complete the course. One of our goals for Startup School is to help founders beyond the Silicon Valley and US. Great entrepreneurs are everywhere.
