For 21 minutes and 53 seconds, I highly recommend this video. It gives so much context and describes the situation in as neutral of a tone as it's possible with a sprinkle of dry humor. Also, Patrick takes it a step further by answering the question if something like this could work again as well as discuss how this system that emerged compares to modern day cryptocurrency systems.

You've got to be kidding me. I just transitioned to Google Domains. I'm really curious why Google decided to do this. Does anyone have insight?

I would also add the strength of the dollar. If the dollar appreciates to the value of the local country's currency, then the revenue earned from there using the local currency for pricing and transacting begins to be worth less.

If it was true, wouldn't we expect Japanese developers to be paid 0.7% as much as American developers?

Impressive and creative. However, you can tell it's scripted with the rhythm of their conversation. If you're not paying attention though, you would be easily fooled that it's real.

I just tried this and it works. I'm running Ventura 13.2.1

Wow. RIP Bob Lee.

He died at Harrison and Main st. That area is tame compared to the mission, tenderloin, and other spots in SOMA. Of all places, I would never have guessed a stabbing would occur there but I haven't been in the area since 2020.

Just a give a sense of the place, the area has a lot of apartments and skyrises. A friend of mine lived two blocks away at the jasper building. We would walk around there at night with his dog and never really saw anybody else in the area past midnight.

My company's headquarters was also a few blocks away directly across the street from the Salesforce park. Several major tech companies and organizations had satellite offices and/or headquarters in the area.

While that area is usually pretty quiet, it is pretty close to the on-ramp to the Bay Bridge. This is purely speculation, but it is plausible that the crime was perpetrated by someone from the East Bay looking for a quick getaway.

Great video. It now makes me realize that I need to setup a better sound system for my home movie experience especially with the way monitors and TVs are setup today.

I still rely on a TV from 15 years ago to watch my movies. The speakers are still in the front so the sound isn't bad; however, I'm planning to upgrade soon and definitely not ready for these new televisions.

Cold storage/cold wallet, which stores your crypto offline. Through this way the digital wallet is stored on a platform not connected to the internet, thereby protecting the wallet from unauthorized access, cyber hacks, and other vulnerabilities that a system connected to the internet is susceptible to.

One way to do cold storage is through a hardware wallet like Ledger or TREZOR. This is probably the best option in terms of convenience and ease of use.

A hardware wallet uses an offline device or smartcard to generate private keys offline. The Ledger USB Wallet is an example of a hardware wallet that uses a smartcard to secure private keys. The device looks and functions like a USB drive; a computer and a Chrome-based app are required to store the private keys offline. You can use anything from a standard USB storage drive to an advanced device with a battery, Bluetooth, software, and other features.

Other methods are sound wallets, paper wallets, offline software wallets, or deep cold storage.

Drink a cup of water when you wake up. Also, drink as much water as you can throughout the day.

Don't play on your phone, watch TV, or read a book while eating. Put all your attention to your meal.

Don't eat out by yourself. This one is hard, but I try my best.

Prioritize a workout schedule. I generally workout on the weekdays 3 to 5 days before I start my workday. I usually in the gym working out for 45 min - 1 hr. This doesn't include the time it takes to prep, get to the gym and back, and prepare for the workday.

I wonder if the authors of the study considered Non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT). This is the energy expended for everything we do that is not sleeping, eating or sports-like exercise. It ranges from the energy expended walking to work, typing, performing yard work, undertaking agricultural tasks and fidgeting.

If they only selected white-collar / desk workers for the study, then it's possible that people expended more NEAT back then in their office environment. Just looking at movies from the 80s, you definitely see more physically active offices than what you see today. People walking around to pass memos, papers, attend physical meetings, etc in the 80s has been replaced with people sitting at a computer to send emails, chat messages, meeting invites, etc.

Also, the nature of jobs people do today is a lot different. There was a study that showed US men's grip strength has been decreasing from generation to generation. No surprise given that the US economy has been changing from a manufacturing and agricultural based economy to a services one.

Here's an article mentioning the study - https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2016/06/13/4815909...
