Coding the idea is probably the easiest part. Getting people to use your product and iterating over user feedback is time consuming. Also, "build it and they will come" doesnt work (more so in the AppStore)


Agreed. But the topic was building a side project not getting users... which is certainly the more difficult part.


AirBnb started off as a sharing platform, but long term, rental companies will dominate the marketplace. Just like ebay spawned professional sellers. I wonder if Journeys will be overrun by companies like HopOn - Hop Off.

To deliver growth, AirBnb needs to find a balance between these mini-companies and individuals, who want to help tourists (and make money on the side)

Thanks. Currently, looking at use cases where trust is a key issue (eg tutor for kids, home cleaning, babysitter). 'Uber for X' doesnt work when suppliers are not commoditized. In such cases, you need a Twitter model, where leadgen happens via referral and workers get hired based on connections
