"Your ad blocker is on." No I do not have a adblock installed. I have a hosts file which removes the worst tracking sites over the internet.

On top of this, they have a Subscribe wall. Who exactly runs washingtonpost.com? And why do they need to get personal with me?

Moreover is the content going to add to anything more than we know about endorphins all ready?

It's a very short article describing this preliminary finding:

"...people with lower fat-adjusted leptin levels, such as high-performance marathon runners, could potentially be more susceptible to the rewarding effects of running and thus possibly more inclined to exercise."

That's basically it. Some folks get more of a 'high' from exercise than others. Big news, right? While I love the research, the way that page redirects and all the ads it's serving up (21 just now) are complete bullshit, and the information in the 'article' is not at all worth bothering with it in my opinion.

Which also gives lie to the title, claiming that I would get benefits. Until I become high-performance and a marathon runner, I get nothing.

Here's the story without the crap: https://www.jottit.com/dbt2x

We know that you can give people endorphin blockers before they exercise and they still report feeling better after exercise.

This article is about leptin, not about endorphins.

You should get an adblocker then. uBlock Origin blocks all the stuff you were complaining about for me, and you should be able to use it in addition to the hosts file (or put the hosts file directly into it as a filter).

Ad blocker blocking is becoming increasingly common.

I use the Stylebot extension to strip away this sort of cruft on sites I visit frequently - it's almost always just setting 'display: none;' on a couple of elements.

Another offender is Redfin. I'm running uBlock, and the site loads totally fine with no notifications about adblockers, but the search button is grayed out. Took me a while to figure it out

And they break selection. Urgh.

This can be fixed by blocking inline-script.

I have JavaScript off. I can read the article just fine.

Maybe you'll need to quit complaining and read the article to find out.

That is the problem. There is no way to read the article without divulging my details.
