I liked my cube. I could pop up and talk to a neighbor, or stay low for phone calls or concentration.

Open office is just so much more exhausting. Especially if they do not have a lunch area with a door. Either the entire floor becomes filled with loud chatter, or the lunch area becomes a quiet, depressing wasteland.

I wish companies were more transparent that it is a way to save cost. I would have happily put up with a smaller cube, or better benefits in exchange for floor space.
