I'm not really talking about that. I'm saying that it's obvious in the sense that this English sentence has a certain level of complexity... In fact for anything to exist it must have some level of complexity... that much is obvious.

The real question is what to do with complexity. Like you said some people think that complexity should be pushed onto users other people like you and I disagree.



If you're building real systems, it is not the case that complexity of the problem is obvious. I've just spent several years in an organization where inherent complexity was discounted by important technical decision makers in the organization.

The result is a mess since the system was not designed to cope with the operational complexity involved.
