Why does everyone try to travel when they're young? There are things youth helps with but visiting other countries doesn't seem like one of them. Finding a partner and building a family is though and that's very hard when you're always in a different place.

Plenty of people end up traveling more than they want to later in life for business anyway.

Heard plenty of stories from friends who worked as a travel agent that told of working with clients for years to plan their dream vacation only to see them or their spouse die before having it realized.

I remember a beautiful sunrise hike up to the Meteora monasteries in Greece... then the swarms of busses filled with elderly retirees coming in after.

Sure, you can visit places when you're older - but it's a vastly different experience.

Why not have both? The world's accessibility has opened up so much in the past couple decades.

Business travel is nothing like personal travel.

Business is all about maximizing the time w/ the client or customer and minimizing the downtime. You catch a 3pm flight, work on the flight, grab a late dinner, get up early, spend all day with the customer or at a conference, then drop.

I can tell you all about convention centers in 10 cities and 2 continents! And my customer's offices in Phoenix.

Traveling is simply easier when you're young. For example, have you ever wanted to climb Mt. Everest? Guess what, it's going to be a lot easier in your 20s than 60s.

Put it another way, the set of all places you can visit while young is simply bigger than when you're old. Places that require intense physical exertion will be off limits to you.

A lot of people don't want a family and are happy in their twenties without a partner
