I had it write a letter of recommendation. Give it some details in a sentence or two and it can produce a surprisingly good result. I didn’t actually send it, doing so would have been wrong and unethical. I really just wanted to see if it was even possible. I wrote the real letter without using an AI. Still, the letter ChatGPT genersted were perfectly acceptable. Using it could have saved me a lot of time. …and I also had ChatGPT write a version of this post. I think it did a good job.
Why is it wrong or unethical? The letter typed with your own fingers isn’t any different than the one you wrote with a tool and tweaked. The essential element is that it reflects your feelings and you’re willing stand by the words. Surely being able to produce the same result with less human time and effort is a good in and of itself.
I have a friend who is using it to write donation thank you letters with it and they produce great results.
