Short Impressions from the Linux Desktop UX (rado.bg)

Sorry to ruffle some feathers, but I don't understand how the Linux Desktop in it current state can be promoted as a viable working environment for non-technical end users. Can anyone explain? Thanks

Denial is the best explanation I can come up with. I also believe many people spent a lot of energy trying to make the Linux desktop a user friendly experience. How would you feel if one of your peers told you something you spent a great deal of time on is not worth recommending? And then there's technical people who believe any user who struggles with something has created their own mess. "Works for me", "Read the docs", "It's easy, what's wrong with you?".

One of my machines is a Linux desktop. It's a Dell XPS "Developer Edition" that came preinstalled with Ubuntu. It's adequate for my needs but I'm an experienced technical user who writes software for a living. I would never suggest this system to my non-technical family and friends. Or any Linux distro for that matter. I spend enough time doing family and friends tech support for macOS, Windows, smartphones and other devices.
