To have continued human population growth, or for that matter to maintain current population levels, basically means eliminating many species that are inconvenient. It is not plausible to remove the incentives for habitat destruction, food source reduction, and killing as a resource. The American bison was destroyed mainly to both deprive Native Americans of food and to have a lot of pelts, that's done. No one influential is seriously promoting the reduction of road systems and other barriers.
