I've tried this and the temptation to remove the block is too much. I think a better way would be to deal with the underlying reasons why we get distracted in the first place.

Or circumvent it. I used a blocking plugin, until I've learned it does not affect other/new browser profiles. Some other low-level solutions I've tried could be bypassed Tor mode inside Brave browser. It seems like my brain just doesn't want to focus on the damn work, but rather on how to get that dopamine hit the easy way.
Most likely. For me personally, the ADHD medication hasn't helped, and after missing two appointments in a row, I'm now too embarrassed to call the doctor and get a new prescription.
Hey, I wrote something like that a few weeks ago: https://github.com/Yoric/keep-it-focused . Big difference is that mine is a daemon that serves rules to the browser, which makes it harder to use, but usable CLI parental control.
I like selfcontrolapp.com , been using it for a long time. There's no (straightforward) way to remove the block with this one, and it works on all the browsers.
ultimately, maintaining focus is tied to overall physical energy (because suppressing distractions consumes neurological energy), and that physical energy is dependent on both health and ultradian cycles. best to alternate between focus bouts and recovery periods.
